Angus Gratton b343a3697c ports: Don't pass -nostdlib in CFLAGS.
This is a linker option, so provided it's added to LDFLAGS then it can be
dropped from CFLAGS without changing the compiler behaviour.

robert-hh 61bbd78eba mimxrt: Implement Quadrature Encoder and Counter classes.
These classes are based on the Quadrature Encoder blocks of the i.MXRT
MCUs. The i.MXRT 102x has two encoders, the other ones four. The i.MXRT
101x does not support this function. It is implemented as two classes,
Encoder and Counter.

The number of pins that can be uses as inputs is limited by the MCU
architecture and the board schematics. The Encoder class supports:
- Defining the module.
- Defining the input pins.
- Defining a pin for an index signal.
- Defining a pin for a reset signal.
- Defining an output pin showing the compare match signal.
- Setting the number of cycles per revolution (min/max).
- Setting the initial value for the position.
- Setting the counting direction.
- Setting a glitch filter.
- Defining callbacks for getting to a specific position, overrun and
underrun (starting the next revolution). These callbacks can be hard
  interrupts to ensure short latency.

The encoder counts all phases of a cycle. The span for the position is
2**32, for the revolution is 2**16. The highest input frequency is
CPU-Clock/24. Note that the "phases" argument is emulated at the API
level (the hardware will always count all phases).

The Counter mode counts single pulses on input A of the Encoder. The
configuration supports:
- Defining the module.
- Defining the input pin.
- Defining the counting direction, either fixed or controlled by the level
  of an input pin.
- Defining a pin for an index signal.
- Defining an output pin showing the compare match signal.
- Setting the counter value.
- Setting the glitch filter.
- Defining a callback which is called at a certain value.
- Settings for MIMXRT1015. The MIMXRT1015 MCU has only one encoder/counter
  unit.

The counting range is 0 - 2**32-1 and a 16 bit overrun counter. The
highest input frequency is CPU-Clock/12.

The implementation of the `.irq()` method uses the common code from
`shared/runtime/mpirq.c`, including the `irq().flags()` and
`irq().trigger()` methods.

Dryw Wade 1046b5dc99 mimxrt/Makefile: Make board linker scripts configurable.
With this change, can simply add `LD_FILES` to a board's `mpconfigboard.mk`

Andrew Leech 0e9e66100e mimxrt/machine_uart: Use a wrapper function to handle IRQ idle support.
MicroPython needs to handle the UART idle interrupt, which is not something
that the standard SDK provides. This was previously fixed by including in
the mimxrt port a modified copy of `fsl_lpuart.c`.

This commit changes how that's done by building the unmodified
`fsl_lpuart.c` directly from the SDK, and using linker wrapping to override
the necessary functions to get at the idle IRQ. As part of this, the code
is updated to work with the latest SDK.

robert-hh b857a9131e mimxrt: Add support for VfsRom filesystem.
The default size for the ROM partition is 256k, and it is placed in flash
between the text and writable vfs sections. Its size can be changed in
`mpconfigboard.mk` by defining `MICROPY_HW_ROMFS_BYTES` to a different
value, but it must not be smaller than a single sector.

The MIMXRT1170_EVK and SEEED ARCH MIX ROMFS boards use a larger size of
512kB. ROMFS support is disabled for MIMXRT1050_EVKB due to issues with
Hyperflash.

The extents of the ROM partition are defined by the linker-level symbols
`_micropy_hw_romfs_part0_start` and `_micropy_hw_romfs_part0_size`,
following existing ports.

Prior to this fix the following would fail:

    $ make build-TEENSY40/flexram_config.s

because it didn't create the build directory before generating the file.

Also, make `hal/resethandler_MIMXRT10xx.S` have an explicit dependency on
`flexram_config.s` rather than the latter just being forced to be built
before everything else.

Damien George a9384c71c5 extmod/extmod.mk: Switch from drivers/cyw43/cywbt to lib/cyw43-drivers.
The cyw43-driver now provides the Bluetooth initialisation code, making
`drivers/cyw43/cywbt.c` obsolete. To use the new code a port must enable
the `CYW43_ENABLE_BLUETOOTH_OVER_UART` option.

Some ports have yet to migrate to the new code, so in the meantime they can
explicitly add the old source to their source list and continue to use it
without change.

robert-hh e574f68820 mimxrt: Add support for a UF2 bootloader.
Allowing to use e.g. the Adafruit bootloaders with MicroPython. The .uf2
file is created in addition to the .bin and .hex files allowing to use the
latter ones without the bootloader for debugging and testing.

Changes:

- Set the location of the ISR Vector and .text segment to 0x6000C000 and
  0x6000C400.
- Reserve an area at the start of ITCM for a copy of the interrupt vector
table and copy the table on reset to this place.
- Extend `machine.bootloader()` by setting the magic number to enable the
  bootloader on reset.
- Create a .uf2 file which skips the segments below 0x6000C000.

The bootloader has to be installed as a preparation step using the board
specific methods, but then the firmware's .uf2 file version can be
installed using the bootloader. The bootloader can be invoked with:

- double reset
- calling machine.bootloader()
- Using the touch1200 method

Double reset is hard to achieve on MIMXRT boards, since there is no clean
reset pin. Some MIMXRT boards provide it by switching the power.

Some boards are excluded from the .uf2 build:

- MIMXRT1050_EVK: The uf2 bootloader is built for the QSPI version of the
board. MicroPython supports the Hyperflash version.
- MIMXRT1176_EVK: No support for this board yet, but it should be possible.

robert-hh b7fa4e2fc8 mimxrt/machine_uart: Implement a Python UART IRQ handler.
Supported triggers are: IRQ_RXIDLE and IRQ_TXIDLE.

When IRQ_RXIDLE is set, the handler will be called 3 character times after

When IRQ_TXIDLE is set, the handler will be called immediately after the

Iksas ce2058685b ports: Fix handling of paths containing spaces in Makefiles.
Make can't handle paths with spaces, see https://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?712

The following workarounds exist:

- When using make's built-in functions:
    - Use relative paths wherever possible to avoid spaces in the first
      place.
    - All spaces in paths can be escaped with backslashes; quotes don't
      work.
    - Some users use the shell to temporarily rename directories, or to
      create symlinks without spaces.

- When using make to pass commands to the system's shell, enclose paths in
quotes. While make will still interpret quoted strings with spaces as
multiple words, the system's shell will correctly parse the resulting
  command.

This commit contains the following fixes:

- In ports/stm32/mboot/Makefile: Use relative paths to avoid spaces when
  using built-in functions.

- In all other files: Use quotes to enclose paths when make is used to call
  shell functions.

All changes have been tested with a directory containing spaces.

Default arguments are removed (all makefiles should always specify all
arguments, using default values is likely an error).

Damien George 60929ec7e2 extmod/machine_wdt: Factor ports' WDT Python bindings to common code.
There are currently 7 ports that implement machine.WDT and a lot of code is
duplicated across these implementations. This commit factors the common
parts of all these implementations to a single location in
extmod/machine_wdt.c. This common code provides the top-level Python
bindings (class and method wrappers), and then each port implements the
back end specific to that port.

With this refactor the ports remain functionally the same except for:

- The esp8266 WDT constructor now takes keyword arguments, and accepts the
"timeout" argument but raises an exception if it's not the default value
(this port doesn't support changing the timeout).

- The mimxrt and samd ports now interpret the argument to WDT.timeout_ms()
as signed and if it's negative truncate it to the minimum timeout (rather
than it being unsigned and a negative value truncating to the maximum
  timeout).

Jim Mussared 1d4b4f0ce2 ports: Standardise docs link in help text.
Updates all `help()` output to use the phrase:
`For online docs please visit http://docs.micropython.org/`

Some ports previously used different wording, some pointed to the wrong
link. Also make all ports use `help.c` for consistency.

robert-hh 6c0af30e38 mimxrt/Makefile: Use a specific fsl_flexspi_nor_boot.c for mimxrt1062.
This one sets the flash image length properly for the teensy loader, such
that the file system is not erased. It was already set in commit
8e54225140 but got lost when the MIMXRT1176
board was added.

Philipp Ebensberger a3f3b9045c mimxrt/flash: Separate low level driver code from flash object.
Separate low level flash access from mimxrt flash driver object. Allows
better abstraction from hardware for testing and reuse in other areas (e.g.
bootloader).

iabdalkader bde222ce84 mimxrt/modmachine: Implement machine.bootloader().
If a board defines a custom bootloader entry function it will be called
first, if not and the ROM API supports RUN bootloader API, then
`machine.bootloader()` will jump to the ROM serial downloader in USB mode.

Jim Mussared 69b93527d5 ports: Make BOARD default from BOARD_DIR in Makefile's.
This allows:

    $ make BOARD_DIR=path/to/board

to infer BOARD=board, rather than the previous behavior that required
additionally setting BOARD explicitly.

Also makes the same change for VARIANT_DIR -> VARIANT on Unix.

David Lechner 3446d440f6 shared/runtime/gchelper: Drop cpu directive from ARM asm helpers.
This drops the `.cpu` directive from the ARM gchelper_*.s files. Having
this directive breaks the linker when targeting older CPUs (e.g. `-mthumb
-mthumb-interwork` for `-mcpu=arm7tdmi`). The actual target CPU should be
determined by the compiler options.

The exact CPU doesn't actually matter, but rather the supported assembly
instruction set. So the files are renamed to *_thumb1.s and *thumb2.s to
indicate the instruction set support instead of the CPU support.
