Hi! I had a fresh USB stick labeled 'manufacturer USB' and it didn't work, because rpi-clone tried to use USB stick labeled 'manufacturer'.
I changed the label to 'somethingelse' without a space and it started to work.
I have Raspberry Pi 4 with the latest official OS.

At least a warning about a not working label would be nice. 😀
